Lip gloss is a cosmetic product which is generally oily and reflecting light, primarily by teenage girls and women to give lips shine and subtle color, but often not lasting very long

Lip gloss comes as a viscous liquid or a soft solid. It can be translucent or can come in various shades of opacity, including frosted, glittery and metallic looks. A clear lip gloss can be smeared over regular lipstick for extra shine.

Lip gloss can be applied different ways. The most popular type is a tube, which typically has a rounded or sloped application surface meant to fit the contour of the lips. It can also be squeezed on your finger and applied evenly. Some liquid glosses come in cylindrical containers, with a cosmetic stick used to apply the gloss. Solid lip glosses come in pots and panels which are applied with fingers or a lipstick brush. There are also tubes which are used like lipstick.

Though lip gloss is most commonly used as a cosmetic, it is also used as a moisturizer.

There are many types and brands of lip gloss available but the most favorite being Lip Smackers by Bonne Bell. These lip glosses come in many flavors such as strawberry, watermelon, and even candy flavors like Skittles, Starburst and M&Ms.

In fact, lip gloss can be easily made at home using commonly available ingredients like Paraffin wax, Coconut oil, Petroleum jelly, Ziploc bag, Candy melts (to color the gloss and make it taste sweet), Oil-based candy flavoring depending on the type of flavor you like, Grater, Wax paper, small container like a recycled old makeup containers or film containers.

Grate some paraffin wax onto wax paper. Then measure 1/4 teaspoon of this grated wax into the plastic bag. Add 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon petroleum jelly, 1 candy melt and 1/8 teaspoon oil-based candy flavoring.

Seal the bag and carefully put it in a bowl of hot tap water to melt ingredients for about 3-5 minutes. Only tap water is to be used and never use a microwave or stove to heat the water.

Once all the ingredients are melted well, remove the bag from the water. Squish ingredients around in bag to mix thoroughly and cut off a tiny corner of the bag and squeeze gloss into the clean container. Let it set for an hour, or store it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

Use a cotton swab instead of your finger to apply gloss. Your lip-gloss should last a long time. If it changes color, odor, or texture discard it.

Sun donates Solaris operating system, 1,600 patents to community

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Admin on 21-07-2021

Wednesday, January 26, 2005

Santa Clara, CALIFORNIA — Computer vendor Sun Microsystems released on Tuesday the first offerings of its OpenSolaris operating system code for free, under a license which allows anyone to use or work on the code and distribute the changes they make..

The full operating system is expected to be released for download sometime in the second quarter of 2005. Following along with the system source code are 1,670 patents Sun will make available for use by open-source developers. Sun hopes to leverage greater innovation in software from the open source community, in return for allowing the code to be used without charge.

“This is not an EOL (end of life) release. It’s a supercharged, turbocharged rocket launching,” Sun CEO Scott McNealy said. “No one else has done what we have just done.”

The move follows a recent move by IBM to grant use of 500 patents freely to open source software developers. Open source developers had been becoming concerned that bureaucracy and legal issues associated with software patents could be damaging to their livelihoods and to innovation. The moves by Sun and IBM seem intended to placate this growing fear.

Dynamic Trace, or DTrace is the first OpenSolaris component to be released. DTrace is a performance-analysis tool that tells developers how to optimize their applications for maximum performance.

The code is to be released under Sun’s own licensing scheme, the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) Version 1.0. This license has been approved by the Open Source Initiative (OSI).

Sun’s license is based on the Mozilla Public License. The Free Software Foundation has stated on its website that Sun’s license, while free, is not compatible with the GNU Public License (GPL) used for the popular open source Linux operating system. This does not mean that Linux software and OpenSolaris software cannot be used together, but limits the extent of integration which may be achieved.

Sun had previously allowed free use of the operating system Solaris by some users, for example students. This move greatly extends the range of free uses permitted, and allows users to read and modify the source code without charge or non-disclosure agreement.

Record amount of fires during New Zealand Guy Fawkes

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Admin on 18-07-2021

Monday, November 6, 2006

There were a record amount of fire calls during Guy Fawkes night, the festivities had emergency services stretched to the limit, a spokesman for the NZ Fire service said that it was “like driving through a war zone.” Despite this, no major structure fires were reported.

Preliminary numbers show that the amount of minor fires reported amounted to 1,729 between the period of October 27 and November 5. For the same period last year, 2005, there were only 1,632. Last year’s numbers were also record setting at the time. Over the Guy Fawkes weekend, November 4 – November 5, there were 784 reports of fires. The actual numbers will be released soon, as the false alarms and multiple reports are separated out. A safety campaign by the NZ Fire brigade advising the public to call 111 on the suspicion of any fire is expected to have increased the number of calls per incident. Discussions on the NZ volunteer firefighter’s mailing list suggest that the majority of bad behaviour occurred in urban areas.

The New Zealand police had to report to 423 reports of disorder in the top half on the North Island alone and in just seven hours. There was a fight which involved 40 people, in Whitianga; police were called to break up that fight and were also called to stop youths from getting fireworks from a shop. Also, in Tauranga, police were called to a fight party of 200 youths at 1.00 a.m. In Mount Albert, Auckland, police were forced to retreat and wait for reinforcements during an incident.

In Wellington, New Zealand, the police had to make 39 arrests, including assaults, disorderly behaviors and liquor ban breaches. The police said it was as bad as New Year’s Eve. “It was as busy as New Year’s Eve. It was one of the busiest nights we have had this year,” Sergeant Maggie Windle said, “Alcohol was a big factor in a lot of the arrests and a lot of the offending. We were dealing with the bulk of this mass disorder.”

Remarkably, the St John’s Ambulance Service reported only one serious firework related injury; a stabbing following an incident involving fireworks.

Mike Hall, chief executive/national commander of the New Zealand Fire Service, said: “The unfortunate result vindicates his call for a retail ban on fireworks, made last month. Despite warnings and a safety campaign, and even with parts of the country being much wetter than they were last year, firefighters were still called out more times than ever. That means that firefighters cannot respond as quickly as they would like to genuine emergencies, and thousands of volunteers across the country are needlessly called away from work and family commitments.”

The Government had previously warned the public that a ban on the public sale of fireworks would be enacted if behaviour was deemed unacceptable over the Guy Fawkes season.

Opinon polls indicate that the public is divided 50:50 over permitting the sale of fireworks, or wanting to see fireworks restricted to public displays or licensed operators. Mr. Hall said “the public are also sick of the danger to themselves, property and pets posed by misuse of fireworks, not to mention the late-night noise and mess associated with people letting off fireworks indiscriminately. The lack of a major fireworks-related fire or fatality at the weekend was pure luck.”

Allegedly Dunedin students were burning furniture in the streets.

Marian Hobbs, Member of Parliament, said that she has put in a bill to stop fireworks to be used by the public: “I’m not saying ban fireworks. I’m not a killjoy. But it does give us powers to stop what is dangerous, time-consuming and expensive. We have to make a start and put our foot down on this.”

The Different Types Of Childcare

Filed Under (Home Care Services) by Admin on 16-07-2021

byAlma Abell

It can provoke significant anxiety when it comes to choosing child care for your little one. Although there are many centers and individuals that provide childcare in Bloomsburg, PA it is important that you as the parent make the correct choice as there is a fine line between those who can understand and care for children of different temperament, all in the same facility and those who can’t. There are three ways of providing child care:

* In home care

* Care in the home of a family member or trusted friend

* Childcare centers

In home child care can either be live in, such as a full time nanny or day care by a child care provider who comes to your home daily. As well as providing one on one care for your child, these individuals can also help out with routine household chores. There are a few advantages to this solution. The child is raised in familiar surroundings, his or her own home; the parents do not have to get the child dressed and transported to a daycare center and perhaps the child will not be exposed to as many little colds and sniffles that otherwise may be picked up where there are numerous kids.

As good as in-home care is there are also draw backs. The caregiver may get sick or have some crisis or even leave you with very little advance warning. In situations like this you are in trouble. The caregiver will be giving your child care and attention but with no supervision from a family member. If your child is extremely young and not able to communicate you will have no idea of what happens during the day, you will not know if the child is getting the care you wish for or not.

Childcare in Bloomsburg, PA has advantages over home care. Childcare centers are licensed and under strict scrutiny of the authorities. Although the child will not get one-on-one care, the child to caregiver ratio is also regulated which ensures your child is given the care and attention that it needs. Childcare centers are very safe for children as there are a number of staff members who are constantly aware of their wards.

Preschool and childcare in Bloomsburg, PA is available at Busy Little Beavers. Far more than a babysitting service, your child will be exposed to environment that fosters learning.

Minnesota to require 25% renewable energy production

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Admin on 16-07-2021

Saturday, February 24, 2007

This article features in a News Brief from Audio Wikinews:

Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota signed a bill into law on Thursday that requires the state to generate a significant amount of its energy needs from renewable sources.

The amount of power generated by wind turbines in the state stands now at 895 megawatts. An additional 5,000 megawatts of energy from renewable sources will need to be added to Minnesota’s electricity resources, which is roughly eight times more than the amount that currently comes from renewables.

The bill signed by the Governor requires energy companies to provide 25 percent of power from renewable sources by 2025.

Xcel Energy, which supplies approximately half of the electricity in the state, is required to provide 30 percent from renewable sources by 2020.

SLM shareholders led by Martin Garbus sue Spider-Man creator Stan Lee and Marvel for $750m

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Admin on 15-07-2021

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Martin Garbus, Esq. filed a shareholder derivative suit Monday against Marvel Entertainment and its Chief Executive Officer Isaac Perlmutter, as well as Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel superhero characters, and Lee’s wife and former Marvel Studios head, Avi Arad. The suit is for more than US$750 million (£528M) — about half of the estimated proceeds from Marvel’s movies.

Plaintiff Stan Lee Media (SLM) has four shareholders who live in Florida, California and Canada, and include Jose Abadin and Nelson Thall. The company is suing for recovery of civil damages representing one-half of film and book earnings from such blockbuster films as Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, Hulk, and Fantastic Four franchises.

Defendants are accused of copyright violations over both the Marvel superhero characters and intellectual properties created by Stan Lee. Spider-Man’s three cinematic outings, starring Tobey Maguire, earned more than $1bn (£702m). “Most of Marvel’s financial success, including from the films, comes out of assets created by Stan Lee that are the subject of this suit,” the complaint states.

Lee, 86, has denied the allegations and has previously filed his own $50 million counter lawsuit against SLM, claiming the company has destroyed his name and reputation and prevented his effort to develop such properties as “The Accuser” and “The Drifter” and others via his first-look deals with Disney and Virgin Comics. Lee also co-created Daredevil, Doctor Strange and Thor.

Former dot-com company STM further alleges that it has agreed to pay Lee a $250,000 annual salary plus $100 million in company stock in exchange for the rights to the superhero characters. “That money should have gone to the corporation,” said Garbus. Lee’s counsel, Mark Williams, replied: “We look forward to a positive resolution for Stan Lee and his family.” Marvel has said the court pleadings, which were filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, are filled with “ridiculous claims”.

SLM ran out of operating capital during the dot-com meltdown in December 2000, closing operations entirely by December 19 of that year. The company was placed into Chapter 11 Reorganization in Bankruptcy by Stan Lee in 2001. During the insolvency proceedings, Lee assigned the major character franchises he had created to his new public company, POW! Entertainment, without the bankruptcy court’s approval.

Two multi-billion dollar lawsuits for damages were filed against Lee, his new company, his new partner Arthur Lieberman and Marvel Entertainment for cybersquatting and failure to disclose the existence and value of the Rights Assignment Lee made to the company when he founded it.

The company remained under bankruptcy protection until the US Trustee for the Central District of California moved to dismiss the bankruptcy proceedings for failure of the company as debtor in possession to comply with basic requirements of filing monthly reports and paying quarterly fees to the Trustee. SLM was taken back by the shareholders after its dismissal from bankruptcy and hired a legal and accounting forensic consultant to review all transactions that occurred during bankruptcy.

By November 2006, all of the officers and directors of the company had resigned or abandoned their positions and the company’s lawyers for the debtors in possession attempted to obtain court authorization to destroy or dispose of the company’s books and records. This initiated a long-running legal battle between shareholders and the company’s founder, Lee.

The plaintiffs in this most recent suit contend that Lee, Perlmutter, Arthur Lieberman and Avi Arad conspired in bad faith to conceal and misappropriate financial interests in Lee’s creations assigned to Stan Lee Media in 1998. SLM’s meltdown involved its former President Peter F. Paul fleeing to Brazil, contributions made to Bill and Hillary Clinton, Paul’s extradition and more. In 2007, SLM filed a $5 billion lawsuit in which it claimed co-ownership of all of Stan Lee’s creations for Marvel.

Botox remains the most popular office cosmetic facial procedure did not meet the skin care procedure

by

Botox remains the most popular office cosmetic facial procedure did not meet the skin care procedures. It is so popular because of its tremendous performance, producing almost surgical outcome each time. In addition, while not inexpensive, it costs less than surgery and is not related to any recovery. In fact, it is the only non-surgical cosmetic procedures for face, which actually goes beyond what we can do surgery in the same area for many patients.

Botox costs vary widely across the United States as well as within each state and city. Although most patients think only about the total cost of each treatment, Botox treatment is actually done charging unit. As with all medications, Botox is administered in the dose or number of units. How many units you will determine what the cost of each injection session. What each facility or physician charges per unit will vary and many will be either the state or to promote what they charge per unit of Botox. This can vary anywhere from $ 10 to $ 15 a unit, depending on the season and if anyone is advertising or advertised special. I’d be Leary anyone offering Botox for less than $ 9 or $ 10 unit as the full ticket price. Most likely, these non-cosmetic or non-trained physicians perform medical treatment … and a very low price may indicate the experience and training service provider level.

So far, the forehead between the eyebrows (glabellar region known as), and the crow feet area (near the eye) is the most common areas injected. Treatment of glabellar area which usually lasts 16 to 24 units to get a good effect. Treatment with straight legs which covers an area of ??8-12 units per side (or 16 to 24 units in total) in order to obtain significant effects. Glabellar straight legs and is often done together, bringing the total units for about 35 to 40 units with a very noticeable relaxation of the upper face, expressive.

Innovative methods “package price” Botox for extended basis is offered in different parts of the country. Prepay for a year’s worth of Botox is the most common, often saving 20% ??to 30% by doing so. Ask your doctor, if they offer such programs or have some days of the month, when Botox is less than the price of new and existing patients a boost.

Teen broadcasts suicide online

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Admin on 13-07-2021

Sunday, November 23, 2008

A Pembroke Pines, Florida teenager killed himself Wednesday, November 19, while broadcasting on the live video site Justin.tv. After making suicide threats and being encouraged by Justin.tv viewers and Bodybuilding.com forum members, Abraham K. Biggs, 19, committed suicide by taking an overdose of opiates and benzodiazepine, which had been prescribed for his bipolar disorder.

Biggs first began blogging about his planned suicide 12 hours before the actual event. He died after taking pills and lying on the bed in front of the webcam. After the broadcast, viewers who apparently thought it was a hoax posted messages such as “OMG”, “LOL”, and “hahahah”.

Hours later, after being alerted by viewers who had noticed that Biggs had stopped breathing, law enforcement and paramedics arrived, discovered his body, and covered the camera. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office has reportedly confirmed Biggs’ death.

According to Montana Miller of the Bowling Green State University, the circumstances of this case were not shocking: “If it’s not recorded or documented, then it doesn’t even seem worthwhile. For today’s generation it might seem, ‘What’s the point of doing it if everyone isn’t going to see it?'”

Biggs’ sister Rosalind was angry that neither the website nor its viewers reacted soon enough to save him. “They got hits, they got viewers, nothing happened for hours,” she said. She described him as “very happy” and “friendly and outgoing.” “On a normal day, you couldn’t really tell that he got as low as he did.” However, he did have relationship problems with his girlfriend, according to a friend.

Mental health professionals have warned about the possibility that other mentally troubled people would copy his actions. According to Dr. David Shaffer of Columbia University, “Any video showing it as heroic or romantic or glamorous could reduce the anxiety people might feel about suicide. It becomes a respectable behavior and lowers the threshold of suicide.” He and other psychiatrists recommend that potentially suicidal teens talk to others and “tell what’s going on.”
